A new executive Committee of Bangladesh Orthopaedic Society has been formed through an election held in last National Conference on 23rd March 2001. The Election was very fair & participatory. A friendly & festival like atmosphere was observed among the members. The newly elected members are -

Dr. Musarraf Hossain, Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery conducted the election very peacefully along with Dr. M.A. Awal & Dr. Chandan Kumar Shaha as members. We give them a big thanks for this creditable job.

A new Editorial Committee has been formed for the publication of a Newsletter & the Journal of Bangladesh Orthopaedic Society (JBOS). The committee members are-

A Regional Scientific Seminar was geld in the lecture gallery of Dhaka Medical College Hospital on 26th May 2001 organized jointly by Orthopaedic Surgery Department, Dhaka Medical College & Bangladesh Orthopaedic Society. The topic of the Seminar Was “ The Role of Doctors in the Management of RTA & Violence”. The Seminar was chaired by Principal, Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Prof. AK. Md. Shahidul Islam & the Chief guest on the occasion was Prof. M.A. Majid, Dean Faculty of Medicine, Dhaka University. Six papers were presented in a befitting manner by Dr. Iqbal Qavi, Dr. M.A. Samad, Dr. Rafiqul Islam, Dr. Shah Alam, Dr. Amjad Hossain, Prof. Sanower Hossain. An open Lively discussion was held & participated by Prof. Rashid Uddin Ahmed, Prof. Shamsuddin Ahmed, Prof. Shafiq Uddin Ahmed, Prof. Ruhal Haque, Prof. Qazi Shahidul Alam, Dr. Md. Siraj-ul-Islam. All the senior participants agreed that more emphasis should be given on training of Orthopaedics & trauma in under graduate curriculum.
